Utilisation of the Gas Turbines in Polish Power Industry.Present State and Investment Plans
Energetyka 2002,no.5,p.275,2 figs,1 tab.,26 refs
Schemes with gas turbines are characterised by a high efficiency of electric energy generation, short construction time and low investment costs;they are in high level equipped in automatic control, require not numerous operational staff and at last they emit low quantity of pollutants. Despite of this advantages, their profitability is not always higher than in the case of steam schemes based on the coal. As a main reason of such situation is ca.twice higher price of the natural gas in comparison with the oal, if calculated for the energy unit. However, the schemes with gas turbines, in some conditions, are, from the technical and economic point of view, the most effective solution for the modernisation an old plant or construction a new scheme.

New Products in the ABB Offer -Concrete Transformer Substations
Energetyka 2002,no.5,p.286,5 figs
Transformer substations of the KS type are designed for supplying residential and industrial consumers with the electric energy from the cable grids up to 20 kV voltage. They are installed in the free standing buildings with the service from inside or outside. These stations are not a subject of the ecological menace. Considering advantages of the substations -such as:uniform cast, access from the one side only, special aluminium furnishing, equipping with the modern electrical equipment, extraordinary low price fitted for the domestic market -the KS substation undoubtedly finds a place in the Polish market.

Mechanical Properties Changes of the Metal during the Operation of Some Boiler Drums. Discussion Paper
Energetyka 2002,no.5,p.289 (Pro Novum Bulletin p.1),2 tabs, 17 refs
Following is proved:boiler drums made of "cooper" steel are the most frequently paralysed by the decrease of the impact strength; number of operation hours, after which the decrease of the impact strength occurs, can be various; a supposition that the impact strength decreases after many hours of operation not necessarily is right;steels containing no alloy additives in the form of Ni and Cu are not characterised by the impact strength decrease even above 200 000 h of operation.

Diagnostics of the Steam Pipeline Elbows
Energetyka 2002,no.5,p.291 (Pro Novum Bulletin p.3),4 figs, 2 tabs,10 refs
Recommended destructive tests of samples sampled from control sectors which objective is to define an immediate strength bring no substantial information on changes of material properties during the operation.Checking of the time strength is time-consuming,and except of that, results achieved concern the chosen straight sector only and give no information on the state of whole pipeline metal nor on the elbow metal.Sampling specimens from the elbow is connected with elbow destruction,so with it removing for a new one.Achieved results, in the light of considerations in the paper, concern one elbow only and -similarly as in the case of the samples from the control sector -they can not be used for assessment of remaining elbows.

Chemical Cleaning of Drum Boilers with Solutions of the Complex Compounds
Energetyka 2002,no.5,p.294 (Pro Novum Bulletin p.6),2 figs, 4 refs
Before a decision on the boiler chemical cleaning there is necessary to choose the cleaning technology. In the case of boilers with a great amount impurities accumulated during the operation there should be used a technology based on inhibited acid solutions.Taking into consideration an environment protection and complexity of the cleaning processes with the use of acids there is substantiated technically and economically more and more wide to use processes of boiler periodical cleaning with the aid of complex compounds.Experiences achieved up to date during cleaning severaldozens boilers proves rightness of such activity directions.
