Usefulness of Measurements of the Near-Wall Layer for an Assessment of the Menace Level of the High Temperature Corrosion (Low-Oxygen Corrosion)
Energetyka 2002, No. 7, p. 419, 8 figs, 3 tabs, 8 refsThere is presented a composition of the near-wall layer for two boilers of various output and other configuration of hard coal fuelled burners. For the 200 MW boiler there is simultaneously defined thickness of water-wall tubes at all walls, so it enables an assessment of the corrosion speed.

Underground DC Cable Lines - Construction of Lines of "Light System"
Energetyka 2002, No. 7, p. 428, 9 figs, 1 tab., 16 refs
Elaboration of a modern transmission system with the use of the "light" technology gives new possibilities of the electric energy delivery. This system enables minimisation of interference into the environment and existing lines prove this advantage. The system can be used as for land lines, as well as for sea lines.

Operations Problems of a Cooling Tower Equipped with the Intensive Spray Type Cooler Made of the PCW Units with Skew Water Ducts
Energetyka 2002, No. 7, p. 434, 5 figs, 1 tab.
Impurities accumulated on the cooling units decrease the thermal efficiency of a cooling tower and can be a menace for the supporting structure. In the Opole Power Station there are taken activities preventing these menaces. These are: cooling water conditioning with the aid of a dispersing agent, use of an algicide, systematic inspection of the cooling system pollution and dismantling one layer of the cooling units.

Diagnostics of the Overvoltage Limiters under the Nominal Voltage
Energetyka 2002, No. 7, p. 453
(Bulletin of the Instytut Energetyki p. 14), 8 figs, 5 refs
There is presented a new diagnostic method (elaborated in the Power Engineering Institute) for the high voltage overvoltage limiters. The method consists in the measurement and analysis of the leakage current flowing permanently through the limiter at the nominal voltage. An analysis of the leakage current is a base for the assessment of the limiter state and it is enough for defining that the limiter is useful or not for further operation. An efficiency of the method is illustrated by the results of visual inspections of limiters for which on the base of measurements there was proved exceeding the leakage current, assumed as an index for the limiter state assessment.
