Role of a Development Strategy of Power Companies in the Restructuring and Privatisation Process of the Economy Branch
Energetyka 2001, No. 6, p. 279, 11 refs
Described is government activity in the field of restructuring and privatisation of the power industry. Reasons of low valuation of the Polish power companies are given. In the paper there is emphasised the role of a development strategy in creating of the power companies value. With the aid of an example of distribution power companies the author point to possible directions of activities of power companies.

Value of Heat and Electric Energy Market
Energetyka 2001, No. 6, p. 286, 7 figs, 1 tabs, 6 refs
Presented are results of multi-variant calculations of heat and electric energy value with the aid of the IRR method for investments evaluation. Considered is a situation when the managing board of existing coal fired CHP station with the respect to lack of finance resources for station re-powering with use of gas-steam power unit, having signed long term contracts for the sale of heat and electric energy can achieve the resources by "the sale of market" with the aid of these contracts as a contribution for the new project. Total "key turn" investment expenses should be paid by an independent investor, future co-owner of the gas-steam power unit, but in such a part only, which arises from the market value.

AIDA II Module Diagnostic System in the Power Equipment Operation
Energetyka 2001, No. 6, p. 296, 5 figs
Described is a module diagnostic system, designed for power turbosets. The system consists of a common data base, user interface and diagnostic modules, which are delivered according to a client demand. Essential modules comprise of sets for diagnosis of: vibrations, efficiency and thermal stresses. In the system there are elements of expert systems. There are described advantages arising from the application of the AIDA II system for the power unit.

On Forecasting in Long Term Horizon of Demand for Electric Energy
Energetyka 2001, No. 6, p. 302, 4 figs, 6 tabs, 22 refs
Given are principles of the demand forecasting for electric energy and forecasting methodology according to the final consumption. Mentioned are econometric models and macro-economic scenarios. International comparisons are done. Characterised is electric energy consumption in Poland in the years 1998-1998. For comparison purposes there are given elasticity indices for electric energy final consumption in four industrialised European countries (so called EU-4) in the years 1973-1994 and forecasts for Poland in the years 1997-2020.

Operation Specificity of Lignite Fuelled Power Stations
Energetyka 2001, No. 6, p. 310, 5 figs, 3 tabs, 10 refs
Given are main factors influencing designing and operation as well as costs of electric energy generation for lignite fired power stations. Compared are electric energy generation technologies based on lignite and hard coal. Presented are prospects for the future of lignite utilisation for electric energy generation.

Adjusting of Operation Parameters in the Burning System of a Cyclone Boiler in Order to Reduce Nitrogen Oxides Emission
Energetyka 2001, No. 6, p. 317, 9 figs, 1 tab., 9 refs
On an example of NOx emission there is determined a connection between pollutant emission and boiler operation. Tests and measurements prove the existence of the possibility to reduce the nitrogen oxides concentration in flue gas. There are tested emissions for various variants of air flow, coal mine gas flow and boiler loads. There is established the most favourable configuration of burners.
