There have been presented on the base of technical bibliography review of probable scenarios of the influence of electric power sector de-regulation on the power system control. These show, that there is necessary to define for the system operator new tasks in the field of system operation management. An analysis of electric energy prices in various European countries shows, that that there is already reached the lowest price level at the liberalised markets. According to the model presented in the paper, low prices will be possible at the relatively short period only and after that will rise again. Competitiveness being decreased in the market caused by a consolidation of the power sector is a main reason of this.
