Production assets management of power plants and chp plants by centralizing engineering activities
In the past few years in the energy sector we can observe the process of centralization of management functions related to production assets.
The article presents the concept of productive assets management and engineering activities in the group of power plants and Combined Heat and Power plants after the establishment of shared service center. The material presents the basic assumptions of activities, the division of powers and responsibilities as well as the principles of interaction between stakeholders. Presentation contains methodology of work in structure of mixed organizations, central and distributed, and indicators of its assessment. The article presents the outcome of the first year of experience.

Process of reorganization the area of assests management on the example of VHP S.A.
The aim of the paper is to describe the particular stages of reorganization of the structure of the area of the productive assets management in a group of CHP plants. Previously each of five plants being a part of the group had its own services for maintenance. Changes in organization have been made in a few parts to end with centralized organization managing the assets on the level of a group of CHP plants. The result of these changes are: homogeneous structure of managing the assets, effective canals for communication, unequivocal division of responsibility for the individual areas of activity and decrease of the costs of maintenance of the assets.

Management of the productive assets of a group of power plants. Model of cooperation with an expert company
One of the most important benefits that can result from the creation of a group of power plants is centralization of decisions and services in scope of management of maintenance of the productive assets. Centralization of the purchase of diagnostic and overhaul services seems to be quite a simple task, especially that diagnostics and overhaul are usually bought together and the only criteria is the lowest price. Creation in the group’s management center the center of technical (engineering) competence is much more difficult. Level of the realization of that task in Polish power sector varies significantly. Generally it may be said that majority of power groups is just at the beginning of their way. That means that many ways of managing the technical problems coexist. They will be evolving for sure but not necessary in the direction of one model of the management of maintenance of the productive assets. In the paper there are presented different models of the final organization of managing the productive assets of a group of power plants in scope of solving the technical problems of power plants, where the organization of the departments being in charge of management of productive assets is in the various phases.

Experience of the Department for Diagnostics and Prophylactics of ZEOPd in scope of solving the operational and overhaul problems
In the paper there are presented the following areas:
• organization of ZEOPD and its history,
• scope of activity and the mode of their realization,
• some of constructing, technological and operation solutions used by ZEOPD, which have an impact on decrease of failureness, extending the periods between overhauls and life extension, especially of main steam pipelines.

Pro Novum diagnostic systems – integration of a multi-year experience, innovative research methods and modern information technologies
Described are circumstances accompanying the creation by Pro Novum Sp. z o.o. of the information platform called LM System Pro+, which core is the fully implemented diagnostic system Pro Novum that has been developed and improved for 25 years. It was elaborated especiallly for diagnostic engineers working in electric power stations and it enables, among the others, the unmanned control over pipelines technical condition, low costs of diagnostic supervision with maintaining the highest technical standards, meeting requirements of UDT (Office of Technical Inspection), „one place management” of informations about technical condition of installations and guaranty of their safe work.

LM System PRO+® as an it support for the diagnostic systems and knowledge management systems in PGE Górnictwo i Energetyka Konwencjonalna S.A. Oddział Elektrownia Turów
In June 2010 in Turów Power Plant the Management System LM System PRO+® have been implemented. The System is a tool that supports making decisions in scope of planning tests and overhauls of chosen pieces of the productive assets enabling to maintain them in the acceptable technical condition complying with their disposability and costs. On the basis of the contract Pro Novum prepared the detailed documentation of the System based on LM System PRO+® in scope of monitoring the technical condition of the following equipment: CFB boilers of the units no. 1-6(water walls, water wall headers, drums) and boiler support equipment of the units no. 1-6 in scope of equipment for carbonisation and ssh removal. There is constantly built the ‘knowledge base’, which includes: operation period of the equipment, types of damages, details of standstill, ways of repair and kinds of used materials and costs, dates and results of special examinations, dates of future recommended examinations, current operational data of some pieces of power equipment or their elements. Full usage of System’s abilities will be possible in a short future with quite big engagement of the employees who operate the System, big amount of tests and other activities in a field of repair and operation entered to the System and after entering the historical data archived in a paper version into the System.

On-line diagnostics of main steam pipelines of power units
For many reasons on-line diagnostics of steam pipelines that includes both condition of the metal of their elements and the analysis of thermal displacements is a task, that should have a high priority status. It is particularly important when it comes to main steam pipelines, which operation period is to be extended up to about 350.000 hours or in other situations, when more intensive diagnostic supervision is recommended because of operation safety. When realized traditionally such a task is laborious, which means expensive. Usually, adaptation to productive requirements and acceptable costs causes limitations of the scope of examinations and analysis which influence the quality of diagnostics, aw well. The highest, professional level of the diagnostics of piping installations with low costs may be assured by on-line analysis of such working conditions, which enable the monitoring of their technical condition and verification of the lifetime prognosis, even in the real time. That means that diagnostic supervision may be performed in the on-line mode, practically automatic. We are just starting to implement such a solution, created during cooperation of Pro Novum sp. z o.o. and Geopomiar s.c., by collecting first practical experiences. Pro Novum have implemented the on-line diagnostics of the critical elements of boilers, turbines and generators in a few power plants as far. Presented solution is another example of application of a new attitude to diagnostics in technical meaning, but also organizational and economical ones.

Flow Accelerated Corrosion (FAC) a work safety in the context of lifetime extension of power equipment
Damage of the carbon steel material in the steam – water cycle of the Power plants by FAC (Flow Accelerated Corrosion) may lead to rupture of the pressure boundary and release of the fluid to the surroundings. An number of serious FAC failure incidents, need to take action for better understanding of the phenomenon and to identify areas of potential damage. Even small damage caused by FAC require corrective action, thereby influencing the reliability and availability of the power plant equipment. This is particularly important in the long-term operating power units in the areas where FAC is possible but have not been indentified and inspected.

Optimization of operation of a large heat accumulator basing on the implemented solution at Vattenfall Heat Poland
The article presents the main problems regarding preparation and implementation of advisory software for controlling the accumulator’s operation which were realized by Warsaw University of Technology and Transition Technologies S.A. at the Siekierki CHP Plant of Vattenfall Heat Poland S.A. The design and operation principles of the advisory software for controlling the heat accumulator of volume of ca. 30 m3 were described. The idea of operation and calculation algorithms were presented. In the latter part the first software operation results and user’s comments regarding its quality were presented. The application of the designed and implemented system enables to obtain significant increase of benefits resulting from using the software comparing to the procedures of the accumulator operation used earlier. These include load stabilization and maximization of profits from producing electricity and heat.

Use of local renewable energy sources and socio-economic development of municipality
The article presents a new approach for renewable energy sources, which in addition to their use for energy sector may also contribute to the economic recovery of municipality/region through tourism development, investors inflow and form of new jobs. The environment-friendly generation of heat and/or electricity as well as other ways to use renewable energy resources promotes tourism and rural tourism. Furthermore the generation facilities accessible to visitors may be an additional tourist attraction. Examples of such a complex multi-purpose use of renewable energy are the solutions used in the Austrian municipality Güssing and the Polish municipality Uniejów.
