Experience gained during modernization of 200 MW power units (nr 2 and 4) in the electric power station Elektrownia Jaworzno III
Presented is the whole process of preparation and then carrying into effect of the 200 MW power unit modernization in the electric power station Jaworzno III i.e. diagnostics, project analyses, design process and the project execution. The aim of these activities was to prepare the units to an elongated operating time until about the year 2030. Discussed in details are the modernization ranges of the boiler, turbine and electric parts of the units as well as of automation and control systems.

Modernization of 200 MW power units and assembly of the NOx reduction installation in TAURON Wytwarzanie S.A. Oddział Elektrownia Łaziska
Presented is the task and range of 200 MW power units modernization in Elektrownia Łaziska. In the frames of this modernization the assembly of NOx reduction installation is expected as well as execution of modernization and overhaul works carried on equipment and installations of units and their auxiliaries which, as the final effect, will allow elongation of 200 MW units safe operating time until 2027. The works will concern turbines, boilers, generators, automation and control, distribution substations and transformers.

Modernization of K-10 power boiler in TAURON Wytwarzanie S.A. Oddział Elektrownia Stalowa Wola
Described is the process of modernization which will result in conversion of OP-150 Nr 10 power boiler in the power plant Stalowa Wola, into a fully biomass- fired one with the use of dust burners. Given are the details of modernization and presented is the construction of the new biomass dust burners.

Efficiency of electric energy and heat generation in power generating units belonging to TAURON Wytwarzanie S.A. and optimization of the energy generation costs
Described are the basic operating rules of SAT (Technical Analyses System) information system and the influence of calculation results and reports obtained from this system on the growth of electric energy and heat generation efficiency in power production units of TAURON Wytwarzanie, optimization of generation costs and reduction of negative influence on the environment by reducing the specific coal consumption.

Experience gained after 3 years of operation of the 460 MW power unit in Elektrownia Łagisza
Characterized are main elements of the 460 MW power unit assembling in Elektrownia Łagisza. Presented are basic parameters of the turbine and boiler parts. Described are the start-up results and presented are some more important failures which took place during the first three-years operating time, specifying at the same time some preventive measures which were taken to remove the causes of the mentioned failures.

Reduction of auxiliary energy consumption in TAURON Wytwarzanie S.A. on the example of cooling water systems modernization
Discussed are the exemplary modernizations of cooling water systems in power plants Łaziska and Łagisza. In the first case, the automatic control of water flow through the condenser was implemented on the basis of determination of the procedure utilizing the knowledge of balance curve between the vacuum size, with which the further growth needed more power for cooling water pumping than the generator dispatch achieved with the further vacuum drop and, in the second case, the control of cooling water flow through the condenser was implemented by the change in the pump rotational speed with the help of a vertical fluid coupling.

Hazards for the state economy caused by combustion by-products (CBs)
Discussed are the problems needing to be solved in case the European Commission would enforce law acts defining some wastes, e.g. the combustion by-products produced in power plants and CHP stations belonging to the TAURON Wytwarzanie, as hazardous wastes.
