Energy and electric power consumption as well as CO2 emission in 27 EU member states against the background of their economic level and requirements concerning reduction of increase energy consumption and CO2 emission
Energetyka 2009, nr 11, p. 731
Big increase in the world's demand for energy until the year 2030 and maintaining its speed of growth over the following years, can be dangerous to the mankind. According to this, it is necessary to undertake and systematically implement actions having in task more rational energy consumption with simultaneous increase in efficiency of power conversion technologies and energy utilization, as well as a big increase in making use of renewable energy and further development of nuclear energy. Discussed are basic informations on power economy of the member states in 2005. Presented are also selected electrical energy production indexes and forecasts concerning power situation progress, as well as prognosed indexes for the years 2010, 2020 and 2030.

Obama-Biden energy plan for the USA: isn't it too ambitious?
Energetyka 2009, nr 11, p. 738
Since taking over the reins of power, the new Obama–Biden administration proposed a comprehensive plan to invest in alternative and renewable energy, end with addiction to foreign oil, help fighting global climate crisis and create millions of new "green energy" jobs. Supporting the administrations goals, the President's budget will include more than $150 billion to be spent over 10 years on clean energy and energy efficiency technologies. The energy plan is the evidence of government's conviction, that investing in research and development today, will probably pay off in creating new jobs tomorrow.

On-line measurement of the condition of Winding Insulation high Voltage Squirrel cage induction motors
Energetyka 2009, nr 11, p. 744
The paper presents basic issues related to diagnosis of winding insulation in electric machines, in particular high-voltage squirrel-cage induction motors. This paper is the result of a long cooperation the author with domestic industry within the scope of electric machine diagnosis, including in particular operating three-phase induction motors. The paper can be used for practical purposes. The presented diagnostic methods developed by the author or other persons have been tested in laboratory conditions and then verified in industrial environment.

Reliability properties of MV/LV transformers operating in domestic distribution networks
Energetyka 2009, nr 11, p. 751
Presented are MV/LV distribution transformers testing results. Transformers being in operation differ from each other in some of their characteristics, and the basic difference between them results from operating conditions. Other differences result from rated parameters of a transformer and also from its manufacturing place. Production variety influences reliability properties of MV/LV transformers.

RACHEL program as an example of making use of neural networks and genetic algorithms in power boiler operating and optimization of its work
Energetyka 2009, nr 11, p. 761
RACHEL program is an individual application to determine O2 and CO concentration in a near wall layer of a power boiler, and it also serves for optimization of power boilers' work with special regard to corrosion hazard. It is the first try in the world to optimize a boiler's work with the use of neural networks and genetic algorithms, with on-line special regard to low oxygen corrosion hazard.
