Innovative power industry
Energetyka 2009, nr 7, p. 409
Successive historical innovation waves are described from the point of view of power industry perspectives. Emphasized are relationships between technology situation and social structures. Given is the 2009 Polish energy balance and 2020 end results prognosis. Characterized are resources of energy agriculture. Determined is potential influence of electric cars and heat pumps on reconstruction of markets. Short remarks are given concerning the need of a new financing model in power industry. Discussed is the segmentation process of technologies and perspectives of their application in the Polish power industry.

Are we in danger of blackouts caused by climatic phenomena?
Energetyka 2009, nr 7, p. 419
Discussed are blackouts in power systems as well as factors responsible for origination and further spread of these incidents, like snow deposit accretion on overhead lines, cable icing or influence of wind pressure on cables. Presented is also a survey of blackouts in the world with special regard to evaluation of influence of the applied technical solutions on destruction scale.

Main technical assumptions of blocks nr 5 and 6 in PGE Elektrownia Opole S.A.
Energetyka 2009, nr 7, p. 430
Discussed are technical assumptions of the planned new blocks in Elektrownia Opole. They are to be two 800-900 MW blocks of 46% net efficiency. Comparison made between blocks in Opole and the ones in Western Europe shows that Polish blocks parameters do not differ much from the most modern ones. Described are also the applied technical solutions.

Role of electric energy producing enterprises in the light of the being in force law regulations concerning national energy safety
Energetyka 2009, nr 7, p. 440
Presented is an analysis and evaluation of capabilities and efficiency of the hitherto existing law regulations to ensure energy safety and concerning enterprises performing licensed activity in the scope of electric energy production, realized in the frames of the ordered by a Consortium of Gdańsk, Silesia, Warsaw and Wrocław Technical Universities research project "National Energy Safety" nr PBZ-MEiN-1/2/2006. Law regulations, ensuring energy safety and contained in the Energy Law act, have a multifarious character and concern, among the others, the above mentioned energy enterprises. Presented is an analysis and evaluation of law regulations in the aspect of energy safety for conventional and renewable energy industry enterprises. Proposed are new legal solutions to improve the state of existing regulations.

Parameters influencing the performance of flue gas desulphurising installations (IOS) working in power combustion objects
Energetyka 2009, nr 7, p. 445
Presented are selected technical aspects influencing IOS work effects that should always be considered during operation and modernization of such installations. Given are basic conditions and technical parameters. Identified are difficulties and technical constraints that can occur during operation of the installation itself as well as the whole power plant.

Możliwości usuwania rtęci w instalacjach odsiarczania spalin
Energetyka 2009, nr 7, p. 453
Energopomiar carried out a series of tests concerning practical possibility and effectiveness of applying various chemical substances with the aim to capture mercury in flue gas desulphurising installations. Discussed are exemplary results of carried out tests with dosing various reagents to a wet-limestone desulphurising installation and also to combusted fuel. Test results analysis shows that, as an effect of selected reagents proper dosing, a substantial increase of the existing installation natural capability to remove also mercury is observed, even up to the level of 70%.

Optimization of capacity selection of a CHP block with a wood chip fired boiler in a project of a municipal coal-fired heating station modernization
Energetyka 2009, nr 7, p. 476
Discussed are problems concerning a coal-fired heating station modernization by adding a CHP block with a wood chip fired boiler. Optimising analysis of technology selection and capacity of the new source is made. There is proved that such projects result in advantageous effects in fuel economy and environment protection. Technical analysis of each solution shows that they have a big potential in reducing fossil fuels consumption and CO2 emission.
