Problem of Operation Works on Live Transmission Lines During ICOLIM Conferences in the Years 1992–2006
Energetyka 2008, nr 5, s. 318
Active participation of Polish power engineers in organization and in the course of European ICOLIM live-line works conferences shows in taking part in the works of International Technical Committee, delivering papers, participation in presentations and exhibitions. As a result of these activities Poland is the place where the ninth conference will take place in June, 2008 in Toruń. In the article a progress achieved in the field of operation works on live transmission lines and presented on conferences in the years 1992–2006 is characterized. Selected are papers concerning transmission lines and gathered in thematic groups making their survey easier.

220–750 kV Overhead Transmission Lines Live Work
Energetyka 2008, nr 5, s. 341
Experience of Polish squads in live line works is relatively wide beginning from works on an energized 750 kV overhead line in 1988 until the performed presently training and operation practice on 220 and 400 kV lines. Replacement of insulators can be realized in two ways and it is done with the use of a foreign production equipment (German and Hungarian) and also Polish as the complementary one. An interesting solution is the application of composite insulators, cabins or trolleys for live line working. Methods to replace lightning conductors with OPGW cables on 220 and 400 kV lines are under preparations. Diagnostic works on transmission lines with the use of helicopter were presented by the authors of this article on 2002 ICOLIM conference.

Using Air Techniques for Live Working in Poland
Energetyka 2008, nr 5, s. 348
Operating of installations being composition parts of a power system is the basic form of work tending towards ensuring of an uninterrupted and reliable supply of electricity to the end users. In the group of power installations the overhead lines of medium, high and extra-high voltage are very important elements of a power system so they require application of effective operation technologies. Presented is a short history of using helicopters for power lines operation, the latest well-checked possibilities of helicopter application in the vicinity of an energized power line as well as the degree of advancement of works concerning introducing helicopters into live line works for the needs of Polish power industry.

Occupational Risk Assessment of Operating Live Electrical Power Devices
Energetyka 2008, nr 5, s. 356
Live power installations operation needs an assessment of occupational risk. Depending on conditions required to perform the work, risk can be either high or low. The conditions are imposed by an applied operation technology including the live working one which is a composition part of outage-free operation technologies. Proposed is classification of methods used in this technology. Ascertained is the fact that the outage-free technologies, compared with operation methods based on de-energizing of installations, are safer. The analysis of hazards accompanying operation of electrical and power installations and of methods to reduce the risk during the works proves that live working technology ensures safer execution of tasks even when it is employed during the full shift of a working day. It is expected to further develop the proposed occupational risk assessment method for the needs of various operation methods.
