Polish Power Engineering in 2003. Three Quarters and what Further
Energetyka 2004, No. 1, p. 1
Economic growth in 2003 caused occurrence of profitable phenomena in Polish power entities. Comparison of the electric energy sale for final consumers in the I, II, III quarters of the year 2003 to the sale in same period of the previous year proves a distinct dependence of the sale on the country's economic situation. Increases of the sale caused by the increase of gross national income promise good financial results for the power industry. May not decrease this situation a determination of the power industry in limiting its own costs.

The Greatest Cable Investments in the World
Energetyka 2004, No. 1, p. 3, 9 figs, 2 tabs, 11 refs
New achievements in design development of the HV and UHV cables concern the development of cables with the insulation of cross linked polyethylene. Up-to-date experience concerning operation of cables with the XLPE insulation at very high voltages prove their high operation reliability in the power system [11]. Therefore, following investigation works concern mainly the modification of the design and technology. Observed all over the world dynamic growth of the length of cable lines with XLPE insulation permit to maintain optimism and to believe that in Poland 110 kV cable lines will be subject of development and in the future - cable lines of higher voltage also. It is more and more probable, because Polish cable industry is able to produce power cables of the 400 kV voltage with the quality near the one guarantied by the most reputable cable manufactures in the world.

JM-MSE Computer Aided System for Investigation of MV and HV Distribution Grid Elements
Energetyka 2004, No. 1, p. 8, 5 figs, 4 tabs, 11 refs
Assumptions for the JM-MSE computer system, its most substantial calculation procedures, their structure and functions are given in the paper. Elaborated computer programmes with features of professional engineer tools can be utilised for the process of analysis, development forecasting and study works of the municipal distribution grids. Elaborated methods should bring: some savings in the design of power grid systems, a decrease of the power and energy losses in the MV grids and 110kV/MV substations and an increase of control effectiveness of the substations, as well as better utilisation of investment expenditures for municipal power system.

A Centre of Mass Printouts. A Modern Marketing Communication in the Toruń Distribution Company
Energetyka 2004, No. 1, p. 15, 1 fig
In connection with implementation of the new billing system in the Toruń Distribution Company there was taken a decision on a change of the invoice system for the customers. In the October 2002 the Centre of Mass Printouts was erected.

Hydrodynamic Cleaning as the Most Speedy and the Most Efficient Cleaning Method for Packing of the Recuperating Rotary Air Heaters (ROPP, ROSS, LUVO, GAVO)
Energetyka 2004, No. 1, p. 16, 4 figs
Hydrodynamic cleaning is a technology with wide perspectives of expansion in great and small power objects. The Ecol Company has already very wide reference lists concerning the domestic power engineering, because it cleaned over few years above 80 heaters.

A Method of Taking into Account Active Power Losses in Modelling of Flows in the Grid for Optimisation of the Load Sharing
Energetyka 2004, No. 1, p. 15, 1 fig., 6 tabs, 5 refs
An optimisation in the market conditions is performed at present in the Polish Power Grid Company (the company fulfils functions of the Transmission System Operator) with use of LPD programmes (Linear Programming Dispatch) and GSLM programmes (Generator of System Limitation Models). These programmes use the methods of linear-digital optimisation and assure operation security in the market conditions. In the analysis of influence of generated power deficiencies and in analysis of influence of outages of branches on values of nodal voltages and branch powers the DC method is used commonly. In the paper there is described a modification of the DC method consisting in taking into account active power losses in branches and transversal voltage control in the branches, so it improves maintaining values of the branch powers, generator outputs in the nodes and power losses.

Role of Online Monitoring and Offline Measurements in the Management of the Great Power Transformers against the Background of Diagnostic Experiences
Energetyka 2004, No. 1, p. 26, 6 tabs, 13 refs
Role of monitoring (during the operation supervision) of concentration of gases solved in the transformer oil and compatibility of online measurements with results achieved with use DGA methods is still a subject of discussion on the international forum. An analysis of mentioned problems on the base of existing standards and publications as well as experience of authors achieved from diagnosis of the insulation systems of transformers with upper rated voltage 110 kV is given in the paper.

Investigation of Influence of Spiral Circuits Geometry on the Static Efficiency of Radial Fans
Energetyka 2004, No. 1, p. 30, 12 figs, 4 refs
An assessment attempt of influence of geometrical features changes in spiral casing on the operation characteristics of the radial fan, especially on the static efficiency, is presented. It was done during the elaboration of the investigation problem ordered by the Polish Committee of Science Investigations. As an essential objective of the works there was to define design principles of spiral casing taking into account a criterion of high static efficiency.

Sources of Measurement Errors in Measuring the Water Level in the Steam Boiler Drum
Energetyka 2004, No. 1, p. 36, 14 figs, 2 refs
For the remote measurement of the water level in the boiler drum there are used hydrostatic methods. Measurement errors of the water level arise mainly from imperfection of the correction, so from recalculation of the level of cold water for the real level of hot water in dependence on the water and steam parameters in the drum. The errors can arise also from the method of the pressure measurement and kind of used design of measurement units or from their accomplishment inaccuracy.

Are Able Power Transformers to Be "Energy Saving"?
Energetyka 2004, No. 1, p. 42, 4 tabs, 4 refs
There is stated in the paper that the transformer could save the energy lost for the grid losses, if it was exchanged in reasonable time and a level and ratio of the losses was chosen for existing load cycle. It is far yet for such a situation.

Solar Energy Utilisation for Heating with Short-term Heat Storing
Energetyka 2004, No. 1, p. 45, 4 figs
Long-term operational investigations of experimental solar heating installation prove that use of solar radiation energy enables to cover ca. 13% of heat demand in the heating period (since the October to the April). This result includes electricity consumption for fan drive. There are required additional measurements during the two heating periods in order to achieve more reliable index of solar energy utilisation.
