Works Concerning Long-term Strategy of PKE at the End
Energetyka 2004, no. 11, p. 666
End of works on the PKE SA strategy of development, restructuring and privatisation is nearing. It is recognised that lack of the programme for the power sector is not an obstacle for elaboration of the concern strategy; it is a challenge simply. A good strategy must foresee and take into account effects of changes in economic policy of the government. The Steering Committee is responsible for the elaboration of the "Strategy ".

Energetyka 2004, no. 11, p. 690, 7 figs
PKE SA, the second generator of electric energy in Poland with regard to the generating potential, in its development strategy foresees for the nearest years to maintain and develop existing capital connections and to develop them, as with hard coal mines, as with electricity and heat distributors as well. Simultaneously, it is foreseen to include into the group next electricity and heat generators in order to increase power output of the concern within the range from 7 000 to 9 000 MW. A share of the concern in the national electric energy market amounts at present to 18% and in the local heat markets - to 16%.

Power Industry Co-operation with Mining Industry - Capital Connections, Economic Conditions, Perspectives
Energetyka 2004, no. 11, p. 693, 5 figs
Coal consumption for the needs of Polish power industry and in the world is described. Given are capital connections of PKE SA with mining industry. PKE SA proves that coal production is profitable in Poland, if some conditions are fulfilled. As an example can serve the Sobieski coal mine which was designed for liquidation and at present is a leading mine in the coal mining branch. It is foreseen that re-structuring of the Janina coal mine will be successful also.

In the Tychy Heating Company Ltd was accomplished (during the modernisation of the heating system) the SCADA monitoring system for the heating nodes based on telecommunication system of TP SA Centrex (Polish Telecommunication Company pic. Centrex). This programme enables also the operation control of the heating system. For the control purposes in the real time of the heating system the wide-band grid of the data transmission is needed.

Renewable Energy Generation through Co-combustion of Bio-mass
with Basic Fuels in PKE SA
Energetyka 2004, no. 11, p. 709, 1 figs, 3 tabs
PKE SA is technically prepared for generation of the renewable energy in the process of the co-combustion of the bio-mass with basic fuels. Performed tests proves that, as in the case of the wooden bio-mass, as in the case of the powdered animal bones as well, energy is generated with fulfilment strong requirements concerning the emission of harmful substances to the atmosphere; it fulfils also requirements of the Act on wastes.

Optimisation of Technological Processes as a Way for Effectiveness Improvement of the Flue Gas De-sulphurisation Plant in the Laziska Power Station
Energetyka 2004, no. 11, p. 714, 4 figs, 4 refs.
As a result of an analysis of the operational data of the Laziska power station there is presented a methodology of assessment of de-sulphurisation variable costs born at increase of the waste reduction grade. Basing on this, there can be defined accurately optimal parameters of the de-sulphurisation system, if are taken into account ecological and economic criteria.

Life Increase of Micro-filtrating Membranes in the Boiler Water Conditioning Plant with the Technique of the Reverse Osmosis Energetyka 2004, no. 11, p. 718, 8 figs, 8 tabs, 10 refs.
The micro-filtration plant existed in the Lagisza power station since 1997. First operational problems appeared already during the first year of operation. They caused a necessity of the membrane exchange after three years of operation and periodical pressure increases at particular units caused a menace for treatment of water necessary for water-power circle. With regard to limited technical and financial possibilities, in the summer period the 4-stage water treatment process is used.

Prevention against Low-oxygen Corrosion in Various Systems of Low-emission Combustion
Energetyka 2004, no. 11, p. 726, 5 figs , 6 refs.
In PKE SA the power units are equipped with OP 650 and OP 380 boilers. Since new and stronger standards of NOx emission were in force, particular power stations introduced various systems of low emission combustion. They are given with regard to following power stations: Jaworzno III, Lagisza, Laziska and Siersza. An anti-corrosion protection based on introducing the air near the waterwall is used in Jaworzno III, Siersza and Lagisza power stations. Given are differences between used systems. As an example of the distribution change of the stream of the coal dust going out from coal mills is presented the modernisation of the milling and combustion system of the OP 650 boilers in the Jaworzno III power station.

Optimisation of the Combustion Process with the Use of Continuous Measurement of the Dust-air Mixture Flow
Energetyka 2004, no. 11, p. 731, 11 figs, 2 tabs, 4 refs.
In the paper are presented results of the first stage of works in PKE SA concerning the implementation of the combustion optimisation automatic system for the OP 650 boilers. The first stage works contained laboratory and industrial tests of the APF monitoring system of the coal dust flow in the boiler dust pipes manufactured by Kwant Sp. z o.o. (Measurement Apparatus Factory Kwant Ltd) and specification of all boiler parameters necessary to control the combustion optimisation process.

Life Increase of Milling Systems in Mills
Energetyka 2004, no. 11, p. 738, 3 figs, 1 tab., 2 refs.
In an extent of PKE SA the most considerable costs are ones borne by ball rolling mills. In order to optimise wearing out the milling elements, it is endeavoured to a choose their geometrical shape in such a way that whole milling system resists as long as possible and simultaneously all elements are worn out similarly. As an example of similar wearing out the milling elements can serve milling system of the 7M115 mill in the Jaworzno III power station. A solution of the problem is described.

Slag Removing Systems Assuring Slag Draining-off
Energetyka 2004, no. 11, p. 742, 3 figs, 1 tab.
Slag draining-off systems contribute considerable limiting the influence of PKE SA on the environment. They assure also considerable savings of electric energy consumed for pumping the water transport of the slag to the storage yard, they decrease operational costs and at last liquidation of the storage yards and their terrain re-cultivation. There are described laboratory and technical tests with use of the bucket draining-off at the boiler without sedimentation chambers and scooping worms.

Optimisation of the Power Unit Transient Processes with the Use of the Monitoring System for the Thick-wall Elements Delivered by the Metso Automation Company
Energetyka 2004, no. 11, p. 746, 7 figs
The Siersza power station completed (on the December 2003) the system of "Monitoring the thick-wall elements for the I and II power units". The system was delivered by Metso Automation - Poland on the base of geometrical and material data achieved from the manufacturer of the Ofz-425t/h boilers - Rafako SA (Poland). The system enables the optimisation of the power unit transient processes - particularly boiler start-ups and shut-downs with consideration of the state of the boiler thick-wall elements. Calculation data collected thanks to the monitoring system during many start-ups and shut-downs and their statistical elaboration will enable in near future to modify boiler start-up manuals by the power station employees.
