Selected problems in building and exploitation of EHV transmission networks

Presented are modern tendencies in network building with no detailed descriptions of the hitherto applied technical and technological solutions, concerning electric lines and substations, that can be found in easily available technical literature. The details of exploitation practice are not discussed, assuming that the presently obliging Transmission System Operator Instruction for Operation and Exploitation regulates sufficiently the above mentioned problems.

Institute that inscribes into the history of our national power industry

Described is briefly the history of Instytut Automatyki Systemów Energetycznych in Wrocław. Presented is the list of its directors and characterized are its activities in successive years. Starting from 2007, the Institute acts as a State Shareholding Company Ltd. Many honours and prizes awarded on international fairs, symposia and exhibitions show that technical level of the Institute's products and services is really high.

Measurements and analysis of small hydro power plant in mountain region

This work presents measurements and analysis of static and dynamic parameters of small hydro power plant localized in mountain region included three asynchronous generators 160kW/0.4kV, connected to the grid via transformer MV/LV. Recorded and analysed transient states concerns sequence of switching off and switching on one of the generators.

Laboratory tests of electronic equipment

The article deals with some practical aspects concerning laboratory tests of electronic equipment at the construction/assembly stage of a prototype or during production process. Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) tests are considered for the most part, but climatic tests, mechanical resistance tests and electrical safety tests are also taken into account. The Research Laboratory, as a department of Institute of Power Systems Automation Ltd., was introduced in the last place. Its technical activity and test facilities were presented in general.

Institute's experience in solving technical problems concerning adaptation of power blocks' control systems to operate in an elastic system (isolated operation)

Problems with location and exploitation of dust-gas pollution emission monitoring systems installed behind flue gas desulfurizing installation

Presented is experience gained during research and exploitation of systems monitoring pollution components contents in flue gases behind installations for flue gas desulfurizing. Discussed are technical and technological conditions of the controlled object that must be taken into consideration during selection of type and location of a monitoring system. Given are procedures concerning metrological examination of such measuring systems. Attention is paid to basic rules that allow for professional and failure-free controlling of the flue gas desulfurizing process as well as for proper calculation of environmental taxes and charges.

Noise emission from chimneys as a factor shaping acoustic climate around an electric power station

Presented are specific features of an EPS chimney as the emitter of noise, the source of which is really a working flue gas fan. Discussed are problems concerning noise propagation range in various surroundings as well as types of noise and their environmental arduousness. Furnace refuse in the balance of big capacity boilers

Biomass – possibilities of application for power generation purposes

Analysed are possibilities to apply multisource provenience biomass for power generation purposes. Considered are exemplary alternative versions of the existing or innovative technological processes. Presented are main advantages and disadvantages of the described solutions. Analysed is also the content of chlorine and alkalies in biomass, that can cause an intensive corrosion of power boilers.
