Further operation of 200 MW power units – rational strategy for Polish power sector
Project of the governmental “Power Units 200+” program and adoption of the BREF EU regulations together with BAT conclusions should inspire to rapidly develop a strategy for extended operation of 200 MW units. The program applies to the existing productive assests of a very big potential (about 10 000 MW) and the perspective until the year 2035. 200 MW units are the best suited ones for every kind of work from among all the National Power System units. They are also the cheapest ones in operation and relatively susceptible to adaptation to regulation operation. Moreover, the know-how is in possession of Polish companies and specialists. Priority should be given to selection of a modernization technology and to the maintenance level that in turn would ensure safety and high machine availability. Elaborated were, in cooperation with all power generation groups, the “Guidelines to life extension of 200 MW power units thermo-mechanical equipment”. The most important rules and criteria were implemented on the IT platform LM System PRO+.

Characteristics of a measurement system with insulation barrier presenting visualisation of an electric field distribution
Presented is a characteristics of electrical charges distribution on selected insulation barriers in a non-uniform field. While performing the described investigations, which consisted in temporary electrification of the insulation barrier in the applied needle-plate configuration, a distribution of charges on the insulator surface was observed and with the aim to expose this phenomenon a red lead and pure powdered sulphur were used.

Energy management systems based on the PN-EN ISO 50001 standard in enterprises and other organizations
Presented are basic informations concerning implementation of an energy management system based on the PN-EN ISO 50001 (“Energy Management Systems – Requirements and Recommendations for Use”) standard in enterprises and other organizations. Substantial space was given to realisation of energy audits in enterprises that are the basic element of energy management systems. Discussed are basic rules and requirements indispensable for elaboration and implementation of these systems in various enterprises.

The Negotiations Coordinator – as a guarantee of personal consumer safety on the energy market?
This article discusses issues related to the implementation a new ADR institution – the Negotiations Coordinator in the Polish legal system. In this regards, previous legal solutions have been analyzed. Also, the background of changes, the appointment procedure, the competences, limitations in the exercise of the Coordinator function, have been presented. The author claims that guarantees of personal consumer safety (only in respect of household customers of gas, electricity and heat) are present at the stage of commencing and conducting proceedings by the Negotiation Coordinator (supplies guarantees), but are not the result of this procedure. In this case, it was possible to talk only about “supporting or contributing by the Negotiations Coordinator to the growth of personal consumer safety in the energy market”, but not to the guaranteeing of personal consumer safety in the strict meaning.

Diagnostics of boilers and high-pressure steam pipelines under the Guidelines of the Office of Technical Inspection (UDT)
One of the main problems in diagnostics of critical power units elements was until recently the lack of uniform principles that would include an approach to the condition assessment scheme (CAS) and installations life projection, particularly the ones that have overrun their design working time. The main advantage of the guidelines being currently developed by the UDT is the unification of the approach to diagnostics and service life assessment of boilers and steam pipelines working under creep conditions. Diagnostic rules unification together with comparability of the range of research and analyses in the whole power generation sector will enable to achieve a number of such benefits like comparability of research results, possibility to observe the pace of material degradation and increase in the reports competence level. And in future, it will result in improvement of appropriateness and accuracy of diagnoses.

Testing of a pilot installation destined to remove ammonia from sewage treated in a wastewater treatment plant of a wet flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) system
Necessity to meet more and more stringent environmental requirements, particularly with regard to sulphur and nitrogen oxides emission, is connected with the need to build modern installations aiming at these oxides reduction. Flue gas desulphurisation and denitrification installations will be subject to changing operating conditions because of the increasingly required boiler operational elasticity. The work in unstable conditions is usually connected with problems which elimination is necessary for the proper operation of an installation. The type of installation offered by „ENERGOPOMIAR” Sp. z o.o. presents a convenient solution for objects where “ammonia slip” in SNCR installations is a significant problem and it is an alternative for building SNCR installations instead of SCR ones, both in terms of the incurred investment and operating costs. Listed are main advantages of such installation.
