Ecoinvestments in Enea Elektrownia Połaniec
Enea Elektrownia Połaniec is one of the most modern power stations in Poland. It is also recognized as the pioneer of many activities connected with environment protection and the use of biomass in the process of electric energy generation. Presented are, among the others, the most important ecoinvestments undertaken by this power station like building of an installation enabling co-combustion of biomass with coal as the basic fuel, modernisation of the Water Demineralisation Station, modernisation of the Central Control Room, Flue Gas Desuplhurisation Installation, Green Unit i.e. the power unit fired exclusively with biomass, realisation of the Phoenix project i.e. a thorough modernisation of the power station's generation units and maintenance works concerning adaptation of power units to BAT conclusions, especially a modernisation of electrofilters and the FGD Installation.

Energy consumption during the Covid-19 pandemic
The Covid-19 pandemic is a global and unprecedented health crisis which, from the moment of its identification in December 2019, has spread throughout the world causing the pandemic. Except the direct impact on the human health the crisis revealed serious economic consequences of the pandemic mainly in the scope of ensuring energy security. The biggest decline was observed in the demand for electric energy. Only the renewable energy sources, as the sole ones, reported the increase in demand by 1,5% as the result of higher installed generation capacity in wind energy and photovoltaics.

Power unit class 200 MW today and tomorrow
Long time operation of power units class 200 MW is the time that enabled acquiring of full knowledge about their design, electricity and heat generation technology and maintenance. Generally successful modernizations and adequate quality of diagnostics and renovations meant that their safety and acceptable availability are not compromised. Those of them that are in good technical condition and improve their flexibility will be successful on the Capacity Market. They can still be operated, depending on the quality of the current technical maintenance – for a dozen or so years, maybe as long as a good alternative is found for them.

Remote diagnostics – a wasted opportunity to ensure the safety and availability of power equipment at low costs
Remote diagnostics has over 15 years of history in the Polish power sector and a possible long future. Not only because of the experience of pandemic, it should be intensively developed, especially in long time operated power units of the same class, in the final part of their life cycle. New power units, probably gas and steam, will accompanied by remote diagnostics from the beginning of their operation. It allows you to ensure safety and availability in a low-cost manner based on on-line analysis of information and systematically increasing knowledge and competences of personnel not only performing diagnostics. Associated with the methods of advanced analytics and artificial intelligence, it can be one of the sources of strategies for managing the production assets of a power plant.

Turbine rotors’ diagnostics for safety and availability of longtime operated turbine sets
Among the critical elements of turbine sets, rotors of turbines and generators have a special status. Failure of their shafts, shaft attachments and blade systems can have serious and costly consequences. Rotor diagnostics should include full non-destructive testing, appropriate destructive testing and strength analysis. The article describes and documents the diagnostic tests performed by Pro Novum in the last few years, including those accompanying the post-failure expertises. They are an important source of knowledge about the impact of the quality of operation and overhauls on the technical condition of individual rotor components and the possible time horizon of their further operation. Attention was paid to the special importance of the competence of the personnel performing diagnostics, repairs, regeneration and assembly of rotors during the overhauls of turbine sets.

Energy transformation in Mexico
In case of Mexico, we are dealing with very modern and deep changes in the public sphere like implementation of new institutions in the sector of energy regulation. New legislation was passed like Energy Transformation Act which aim is the regulation of sustainable use of energy and of obligations concerning clean energies and reduction of pollutants emission from electric industry while maintaining competitiveness of production sectors. The control of the national power system and the public electric energy distribution service remains as the exclusive domain of the state. There have been created new legacy bodies having legal autonomy: National Commission for Hydrocarbons (Comisión Nacional de Hidrocarburos) and Commission for Energy Regulation (Comisión Reguladora de Energía). On the basis of the new legal framework there were conducted changes in the energy law of contracts in which take part various government institutions. Discussed are the details of introduced changes.
