Power Industry in 2003.Following Year of Stagnation or Perhaps the Year of Changes
Energetyka 2003,no.3,p.139,9 figs
Characterised is a situation of the power industry in Poland in 2002.Given are some problems of the power industry in order to answer the question whether the year 2003 will be a year of changes in decisions and actions adapting the Polish power entities to an experience logic of power companies in European Union or it will be following year of parochial decisions without an owner vision and strategy meeting environmental challenges and dramaturgy of times.

Reliability Indices of 360 MW Power Unit Operation in the Bełchatów Power Station
Energetyka 2003,no.3,p.144,13 figs,5 refs
There is assessed failure frequency and availability of the 360 MW power units with lignite fuelled boilers, installed in the Bełchatów Power Station .The analysis is made on the base of data collected in the computer data base (based on the Microsoft Access programme)comprising a population of events since the begin of operation of all twelve power units in the power station.

Continuous Inspection and Correction of Turbine Maximal Output with Regard to Deviations from Nominal Conditions
Energetyka 2003,no.3,p.150,7 figs
A subject of investigations was an analysis of admissible range of power unit operation. For the 13K215 turbine as main strength limitations was taken the admissible pressure in the control stage of the HP turbine part and admissible pressure drops between following steam bleedings.Described is modelling results of an influence of additional steam extraction and condenser pressure on the maximal turbine output.Analysed is only steam extraction to the header from the II steam bleeding. If from the turbine the steam is taken also for supply heating plants, the same analysis ought to be conducted with regard to each steam bleeding.

Conception Diagnostics Under Operation of Overvoltages with Varistors of Metal Oxides in 110 and 440 kV Grids
Energetyka 2003,no.3,p.156,1 figs,9 refs
Cautious maintenance should comprise collection of data characterised properties of limiters in the initial state and changes of these properties during the operation. One should be ready also for operational diagnostics,so should have diagnostic methods and assessment criteria of the limiters. With regard to these in the Institute of Electrical Engineering and Technology of the Wrocław Technical University there were initiated pertinent investigations.

Economic and Ecological Effects of Power Unit Modernisation in the Opole Power Station
Energetyka 2003,no.3,p.160,1 figs,1 tab.,4 refs
Presented is an analysis made in the Opole Power Station concerning an economic effectiveness of turbine flow system modernisation. The analysis was made in order to assess the purposefulness of modernisation the turbine in the power unit no.1 made in 2001 and modernisation of the turbine in the unit no.2 to be made in 2003.Given are results of the assessment of investment project effectiveness (the assessment was made using various assessment methods and being in force international standards).Presented are also achieved indices of utilisation of primary energy carriers and indices concerning the influence of the electricity and heat generation on the environment.Elaborated are general conclusions able to be utilised in the modelling process of reconstruction directions of the Polish power industry.

Analysis of the 120 MW Power Unit Operation with Use of the IPSEpro Programme
Energetyka 2003,no.3,p.165,5 figs,5 refs
Results of use of the IPSEpro programme for analysis of chosen parameters of the thermal cycle efficiency. Results of the programme application has proved it usefulness for this purpose.Although the IPSEpro programme does not take into consideration many changes in the thermal cycle, nevertheless as simulation result of the power unit operation with it use achieved results are near real ones. Therefore, one can underline that computer simulation of the thermal cycles is more economic and less time-consuming than investigations at real objects,so it is worth to recommend such programmes as IPSEpro,as for designing,as for analysis of the thermal cycles of the power plant as well.

Power Security as a Co-operation Determinant of Power Industry, Agriculture and Communal Administration
Energetyka 2003,no.3,p.173,14 refs
As an objective of this paper is first of all to show the connections between power industry, agriculture and local self-governments in new situation and to present also at this background possibilities and limitations,as at the side of generation,as consumption of energy as well.Given are an essence and fundamental functions of plant cultivation for power industry.Described is a biological fuel as a tool for assuring a power security of the state and influence of coherence of the European Union agricultural and power polices on the market of generators in Poland.
